It is well known that one of the advantages of fiber laser cutting machines is that they have a fast speed. Under the condition of a certain laser power, there is an optimum range of cutting speed. If the speed is too high or too slow, the quality of the machined surface will be affected differently. Controlling the cutting speed in laser processing is an important task, otherwise it may cause poor cutting results.
The cutting speed has a great influence on the cutting quality of the stainless steel plate. The best cutting speed makes the cutting surface have a smoother line, smooth and no slag is generated in the lower part. If the cutting speed is too fast, the steel plate will not be cut through, causing spark splashing, slag is generated in the lower half, and even the lens is burned. This is because the cutting speed is too high, the energy per unit area is reduced, and the metal is not completely melted; If the cutting speed is too slow, the material may be over-melted, the slit becomes wider, the heat-affected zone is increased, and even the workpiece is over-burned. This is because the cutting speed is too low, the energy accumulates at the slit, causing the slit to widen. The molten metal cannot be discharged in time, and the slag is formed on the lower surface of the steel sheet.
The cutting speed and the laser output power together determine the input heat of the workpiece. Therefore, the relationship between the input heat change and the processing quality due to the increase or decrease of the cutting speed is the same as the case where the output power changes. Under normal circumstances, when adjusting the processing conditions, if the input heat is changed, the output power and the cutting speed will not be changed at the same time. It is only necessary to fix one of them and change the other to adjust the processing quality.
